Paula Gerfen serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer (CNO) for Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). With more than 30 years of nuclear and energy industry experience, she is responsible for overall strategic direction and leading upwards of 1,000 employees who are focused on the safe, reliable and affordable operation of PG&E's Diablo Canyon Power Plant. She also oversees the company's nuclear power plant decommissioning projects.
Gerfen began her career at Diablo Canyon Power Plant in 1991 as a Digital Engineer and served in various positions of increasing responsibility, including Maintenance Manager; Operations Shift Foreman; Operations Shift Manager; Nuclear Shift Operations Manager; Sr. Manager of Station Director Support; Director of Operations Services; Station Director and Site Vice President.
Gerfen received her Senior Reactor Operator License in 2007 and is a graduate of the INPO Senior Nuclear Plant Manager course as well as the Nuclear Operational Risk Management course at MIT.
Prior to joining Diablo Canyon Power Plant, she served in the United States Air Force and earned a Computer Science B.S. degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
