Michael completed a 2-year rotation with the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations in June 2022 as a senior evaluator and is the former Emergency Preparedness (EP) Manager at Diablo Canyon Power Plant. Michael was the EP manager from 2009-2021 and has over 35 years of experience working in the nuclear energy industry. Michael’s career includes leadership roles and responsibilities in operations support, strategic projects, regulatory services, and outage management for multiple nuclear power generating facilities. He served as the Regional Utility Group chair and Peer Team Leader in EP for the STARS Alliance. Michael has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and earned his degree from Hiram College located in Hiram, Ohio while working full time in nuclear generation. Michael has also served as an active volunteer in the community over his career. He led the board of directors with the American Red Cross as chair for San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties in California and recently served as president of the board of trustees for the Avila Beach Community Foundation. Michael has been an active first responder volunteer with the disaster action team for the American Red Cross, as an auxiliary officer with the State Highway Patrol and as a volunteer firefighter in his community. Michael and his wife Carrie Anne live in Avila Beach, CA.
